What is Hull Speed?
Hull speed is the maximum speed at which a displacement hull can travel through the water. As the boat moves, it creates a bow wave. At hull speed, the boat is essentially trapped between its bow and stern waves, and a significant increase in power is needed to overcome this resistance and go any faster.
